me not being intimate with 91 Toyota's i would put 4 qts in it , start it and run for a minute while i check for leaks.
then shut it off ,wait a few minute's, check the dipstick. if it is not in the full range add another pint. (1/2 quart)
4 qts is always a safe start.
you can call your local auto parts store to find out what they recommend with/without new filter.
P.S.
oil change at jiffy lube = 40$
being grandmas favorite = priceless. How do you find how much engine oil your car needs?
What do you mean by ';needs';. How much to fill it, how much to add, etc.
If you just want to check the level to see if it's low: Park car on level surface, let sit for about 5 minutes, pull the oil dip stick and wipe off, reinsert it fully for about 3 seconds and pull out, keep vertical and look near the end of it. The oil should have wetted the stick. It should be in the cross hatched area or in-between two notches on the stick. Usually from the bottom line on the stick to the top line is a quart.
Now if you're just wanting to know the capacity of the engine for oil, you've made me type a lot for nothing. I would guess it's a 4 cylinder engine. As a general rule 4 cylinder's take about 4 quarts. Be more specific next question.
In the owner's manual. Try the glove box. If not, get a manual from Pepboys or some other automotive store.
Call the dealer- and then order an owner's manual.
5 qt with filter replace
take your car to jiffy lub, they will tell you how much oil was used
