Besides the money point, why car places insist oil have to be changed every 3000 miles or 3 months?

My Honda Fit has a computerized oil reader that tells me when is time, usually past the 7000 miles.Besides the money point, why car places insist oil have to be changed every 3000 miles or 3 months?
The people that make the cars will typically reccommend 5 to 7,000 mile oil changes, while people that sell oil changes like to tell you 3,000 miles. Oil has gotten much better at reducing sludge, friction %26amp; carbon build up %26amp; doesn't tend to break down as rapidly due to heat as it once did (20 yrs ago). Most fleet managers get an oil change every 6,000 miles on their vehicles. Any more often is simply wasting money.Besides the money point, why car places insist oil have to be changed every 3000 miles or 3 months?
it keeps your warranty up to date. if you don't get the car serviced when they say then your warranty is kaput.
Well it depends on how much milage you have on your car. The higher milelage (over 50,000) usually requires more frequent changes.
Changing the oil frequently is hands down the cheapest and most effective preventitive maitenance you can do for your car. Changing your oil will keep your car perfoming at its best way past 120000 miles. Your fit is just telling you that its over due.
if you want to get the most miles out of your car .keep it serviced it will save you alot of money down the road.it also keeps the internal parts lubed as well, decreases carbon buildup.
When your Fit was new, on the window sticker it had a section that said ';estimated annual operating cost';.

In order to make that figure as small as possible, they just bumped the oil changes up from 3000 to 7000.

7000 miles is insane. It's so obvious when an engine has gone that long repeatedly just by opening the hood.

Oil breaks down and turns to crap.

Think of it this way. Try frying chicken in cooking oil. You can get 4 or 5 dinners out of the oil until it starts looking pretty nasty. Instead of changing it, just keep using it 4 or 5 more times. Same thing.
It's not a money point, most shops make hardly any profit off oil changes. Consult with your manual and live by that.
oil breaks down as it is heated up and down and not able to lubricate there for making things lock up
