How easy is it to run my old diesel car of rapeseed oil/ any oil?whats the best oil?

I,ve had enough of the rising price of fuel do i need to get any apparatus/ can i just put it straight in what ratio. I will thank you now for any info that will help me/you to squeeze a little bit back of our hard earned money from these money grabbing b@stards. Thanks and happy new yearHow easy is it to run my old diesel car of rapeseed oil/ any oil?whats the best oil?
The short answer is yes.

The longer answer is :

It is possible to use cooking oi as a fuel; either Straight Vegetable Oil (SVO) or processed used cooking oil (Bio-Diesel).

SVO is as it says; straight from the supermarket and into your tank. In cold weather it will be difficult to start unless you pre heat the oil (heater in your tank) or 'cut' the fuel with standard diesel (in very cold weather about 50/50 is ok). SVO is thicker than diesel at low temperatures (they both get thicker but SVO gets very thick). Very efficient glowplugs and a healthy battery will be necessary.

During summer it may only be necessary to use a small percentage of diesel in your tank . You may go as far as getting another tank fitted and an arrangement by which you use diesel to get started and cooking oil once started, it's easy enough to sort out.

Some lift pumps cannot cope with the thickness of SVO and may have to be changed - there are planty of suppliers oon the internet.

SVO has a higher viscosity index than diesel at normal working temperatures and therefore there is no risk to the close critical components of a diesel fuel system.

SVO reduces hydrocarbon emissions significantly, although you will smell like a chippy.

SVO come from a renewable energy source and the crbon bill for this product has already been written, it was likely to end up in some grotty land fill site after it had been used to fry chips.

C%26amp;E may require you to declare use and pay duty on it's use; when I lived in the UK C%26amp;E only required you to pay the duty if you produced the fuel and they had been round to inspect the production facility - this amy have changed.

Bio-Diesel is processed 'used' cooking oil there are plenty of web sites to let you know how to produce it, but basically you need to filter the used oil - heat it to a constant 55 degrees celsius (an old immersion heter is ideal) and mix it with a couple of other agents to destroy the startches from when it was used to cook with - et voila you have bio-diesel.

The implications of using bio-diesel are:

Easier starting and the smell is much reduced, more like a bit of a barbeque than a chippy.

C%26amp;E will definitely want their pound of flesh as you are now a bio-diesel producer and they will want to visit you and check your records and premises.

Some of the big name companies like to say they are using bio-diesel, but it is not pure bio-diesel it is 5% bio-diesel. All they are doing are jumping on the 'Green' band wagon. The same goes for the large supermarkets who sell bio diesel on their forecourts it's 5% or less bio.

I've been using this for years and I believe diesel is 拢1.10 a litre in some areas and with cooking oil at 70 pence a litre it makes financial sense.

Just C%26amp;C'dthis from an answer I gave earlierHow easy is it to run my old diesel car of rapeseed oil/ any oil?whats the best oil?
Try this site, http://www.dieselveg.com/
in reality diesel engine may run with almost anything (oily things)except gasoline.

the inconvenience is ....You have to find the way of liquified the oil (thinnier) so that won't clogg the injector nozzle.......or worse......make molasse in the combustion chamber.

be careful .diesel engine doesn't accept any moisture( minute amount of water)
I use 80% diesel to 20% any deep frying cooking oil off the shelf from tescos.

Been doing it for 2 years in Peugeot 1.9 diesel.

No problems............

It's better for the environment too.
Citroen c15 1.9 running on cheap neat cooking oil for 2yrs,only problem is getting rid of all them 2lt poly bottles!
Mixtures of 10% ';biodiesel'; should be manageable for an older car.

At higher mixtures say above 20% you run the risk of the car not starting and the fuel eating into the gaskets.

Professionaly converted cars have a separate diesel tank for starting and had their gaskets changed.

Rapeseed Oil isn't particularly eco friendly as it's CO2 impact isn't very good and it displaces food production.

The small German company Choren is working on a process to create second generation ';Sun Fuel'; using only waste material, like hay and branches and leaves from the forestry industry. So no one has to starve to death.
As stated before, deisels will burn almost anything. In fact the first diesel motor ran on peanut oil.

There are two ways you can run your diesel on vegtable oil. One way is to have a dual system where you start and warm the engine with regular diesel and then change over to pure vegtable oil (PVO). You will have to change back to regular diesel before you get to your destination to clear the fuel lines of PVO.

The other way to do it is to refine or crack the PVO or Waste Vegtable oil (WVO) to make the hydrocarbon chains smaller and more esily combustable at low temps. This is a little harder and will cost you more than just buying diesel, unless your PVO or WVO is free.

Either way, vegtable oil will end deteriorating your fuel lines, so you will have to change these.
use cooking oil its cheap n ya car smells like a chippy
