Do you check oil in car when it's hot from running or cold? What kind of oil do you use in a '95 Saturn?

Do you check it with the car running or not?Do you check oil in car when it's hot from running or cold? What kind of oil do you use in a '95 Saturn?
check your oil level when engine is off.does not matter when it cold or hot. used 5-30 weight engine oil ,nothing fancy.Do you check oil in car when it's hot from running or cold? What kind of oil do you use in a '95 Saturn?
Hot or cold, matters not. If it's been running, wait five minutes or so for the oil to settle. Don't check it while its running...that's the transmission you check. Just make sure you're on a level surface.

(psst...stick with what the owner's manual says...probably 5W-20 weight.)
wait ten to fifteen minutes after you turn your car off. you shoud use 10w30 any brand
you are supposed to do it when it is idleing, because if the car is off, more oil settles into the oil pan, and that is not the reading you want.
no cut it off and let it sit for a few minutes to allow the oil to drain back down, also 30 weight for summer driving 10w40 for winter driving.
engine off.....let it sit for a few minutes at least if been running
engine off! level ground. 10w40 cheap new oil.
You check the oil level when the engine is cold and preferably before u go anywhere the first time of the day. Example is right before you goto work then get in the car and off you go. For what type of oil, 5w30 or 40 should be sufficient.
