Do i need a full 5 quarts of oil in my car in every oil change?

I read in some car manuals that adding more than 5 quarts is too much for an engine intake. I have a toyota carolla (91) and i only put 4 quarts of oil in mine..I am just wondering should i add another quart to be on the safe side?Do i need a full 5 quarts of oil in my car in every oil change?
read the owners manual. put in the amount it specifies.Do i need a full 5 quarts of oil in my car in every oil change?
there is a thing called a dip stick, when the oil touches safe you are golden
Put in the amount of oil your manual says. If you don't have a manual, then call a dealer of the car make you own and ask them.

And HEY, learn to use your dipstick! You know, the one in the car.

[HeHe] [I had to use my chance!]
You use what the manufactorer suggests. When you change the filter that adds another quart. You can also place you car on a level surface and check the oil level. If you have changed the filter make sure you run the car for a couple of minutes so that oil has filled the filter. Once that is done check the oil by looking at the engine oil dip stick.
Your specific car came with an owners manual. All cars are not the same. Check your owners' manual for how much your car needs. If you don't have a manual for some reason, you can call the local dealership or get a manual at the auto parts store.

Look in your owners manual (or online) and it should give you an oil capacity... 5 quarts seems like an awful lot for that car. My 4.3V6 engine only takes about 4陆 quarts
no some 4 cyl. cars only hold 3 or 4 qts. 5 can kill them. call dealer. they will tell ya.
Just check your dip stick when your done. Some engines have a smaller capacity--------IT ALSO DEPENDS WHETHER YOU CHANGED YOUR FILTER OR NOT
No. Put in only what the owners manual says. Overfilling can cause oil foaming.
Most cars do take 4 quarts. Only the older V-8's take 5. If you do add more, you will be replacing your rings at the least because it will blow them out. Very expensive.
Read your owners manual to find the capacity of oil for your vehicle. Do not exceed the recommended capacity as too much oil can foul your spark plugs or worse damage. Oil needs space to circulate inside the engine.
4 qts is a good starting point, it actually will take a bit more, put the 4 in, then start engine for apx 5 min, let sit for the same, check on dip stick, add oil to bring within 2 lines on dip stick
Put in the amount it tells you to in the owners manual.

If it says 5 quarts put in 5

If you don't you will burn up the engine in the car.

A quart of oil is much cheaper than a new engine.
Check *your* car manual. Too much oil can cause as many problems as too little. After you change your oil, wait a few minutes %26amp; check the dipstick...that will tell you if you need more or less...but if you need less...it is kind of too late! You can't get it out.
not all cars require the same amounts

read the manual and check after you have added the oil

if you put in too much it can be bad for youe engine
