Clutch in car leaking oil down to the pedals area?

clutch was leaking oil, can start the car but can't put it into first gear. how did this happen and is it expensive to fix.Clutch in car leaking oil down to the pedals area?
The primary seal is leaking in the MASTER cylinder (not the slave) and the fluid is leaking out of the rear of the cylinder and onto the floor of the car.

Because of this leak, air has entered the hydraulic system and the clutch won't withdraw so that you can't select gears.

You either need a new master cylinder or a repair kit, depending how bad it is. This shouldn't be too costly.

the slave cylender has wore out replace the slave and bleed the system should beok after that not too exp apx150 -300$$$$$
there should be no oil in the clutch area at all.. can you put the transmission in first gear before starting and then start. if it will not go into first gear at all could be bent shaft...scyronizer or shifter linkage
