To remove grease, soak the stain in undiluted white vinegar. Then, wash as usual.

If you get don't get it out with that you can try rubbing the spot with Dawn dish washing liquid as soon as possible.

Then wash the cloth as usual in the sink or in the washing machine with warm water.

Let the cloth dry in the air and the spot should be gone.

Note: Don't dry in the dryer until the stain is gone or it will set. (S)Will white vinager get a car oil staine out of a shirt?
vinager will not do it for sure.... dw40 will make it worse.... you need a heavy duty detergent or fabric oil remover....
White vinegar won't do it and the WD-40 will just create another stain to deal with. Get some Simple Green. It's a highly concentrated degreaser/cleaner that is available in a lot of grocery, hardware, automotive and discount stores. It's also non-toxic and biodegradable.

Spray the Simple Green on the oil spot and let it soak for a bit. Then take the material and rub the spot and the Simple Green should start to foam or get sudsy and the oil should start lifting. Rinse and keep treating and scrubbing until the spot is gone. Don't put the item in the dryer until you are sure the spot is entirely gone because the heat of the dryer will get it and you will be done.

I've used Simple Green to take axle grease out of jeans and it does work. Just takes some patience and time.
