My car oil light came on and it was overheating, so i put oil in it. Will it be fine?

My cars oil light came on and it was overheating. I put oil in it, and it started up with no oil light, but it sounded a little weird. The engine light is on and i am wondering will it be fine?My car oil light came on and it was overheating, so i put oil in it. Will it be fine?
Significant damage probably already occurred. When the light comes on, it means that the engine oil pressure is too low to do it's job. If your engine was overheating due to insufficient oil pressure...wow.





If it's a cheap car, drive it the way that it is until you can't drive it no mo. If it's a car you want to keep for a while, take it to a GOOD mechanic for evaluation...this might be one of those time when you want to take it to the dealer. It's possible that getting it repaired correctly now might stave off catastrophic failure in the future. why don't you try changing the oil and filter.....
