What happens if i put my car oil in...where you check your oil and not the actual black oil cap where it goes?

you know that pipe... where you have the metal stick to check your oil?.... that one.. i put it in there instead of the actual black cap you take off and put the oil in.What happens if i put my car oil in...where you check your oil and not the actual black oil cap where it goes?
nothing. the pipe you put the oil in is connected to your oil pan. the place where your suppose to put it is on your heads. if you just added oil it should be fine. if you did this with an oil change then it will still be fine, cause your oil pump will circulate the oil throught he engine before damage occurs.

good luckWhat happens if i put my car oil in...where you check your oil and not the actual black oil cap where it goes?
That is fine, you are okay. Just check the level after all the oil has had a chance to drain into the engine to see if you have the proper level.

How ever did you manage to get it in there?
The oil goes into the same place. You must have an very steady hand, or made quite a mess. I don't suppose you can come over and pour Cognac into my flask from the bottle.
No problem, be happy!
its the DIP STICK, it should work but it will be messy and take forever
No worries - both lead eventually to the oil pan. Pouring it through the dipstick tube would probably take a lot longer, since it's a smaller, skinnier hole. The oil cap lets the oil drain through the engine to the oil pan, lubricating and cooling things along the way. That's why it's usually on the top of the engine.
HOW THE HECK DID YOU GET IT IN THERE!!!!!!!!!!!!
That will work okay. How do you get it to go in that little hole? Anyway it goes the correct place if you can do it.
nothin happens it will only take u alot longer to put oil in
It's not a problem but one has to ask why. Presumably you eat breakfast standing on a hammock.
It will be ok. Will just take you forever to get it down the skinny pipe.
What kind of car do you have? 2.2 gm cars had a big cap and a large tube with the dipstick built on the cap. if this is the case that's where you're supposed to put oil in. Otherwise I am wondering if you put the engine oil in the transmition dip stick tube because I don't see how you could ever get oil in a standard engine dipstick tube.
Dipstick!!!!!!!!! (joking)

Thats the dipstick hole, fill all you like, glad your not being paid by the hour to do so.

Seriously the oil that makes it in will go to the pan, the rest on the ground. As long as you get the level right you wont harm anything but you patience.

Cheers, happy filling!!!
it wont hurt a thing but ill bet you took forever to put it in
It's not good that's for sure but it's not going to make your car blow up or anything. I'd get to a mechanic next time it needs done though. You may have some ';smoke'; from the engine if any got on external parts under the hood- which will smell horrific but it will go away.

I'd check it again in a couple hours and make sure that it is draining to the proper place. If it's not I'd get to a mechanic that can fix the problem.
not alot of bad things will happen. in fact, other than it may make a mess, as it is difficult to pour into the dipstick tube I wouldn't worry. As long as you didn't overfill your oil level, it all goes to the same place (your oil pan). as long as you have the proper oil level, there is no danger at all.
lol nothing it will be fine.
Nothing happens other than wasting a bunch of time doing it through that tiny hole. It all goes into the oil pan... so it will not harm it in any fashion.

- Good Luck!
dunno wont do it no good tho dont do it anymore
