Whats the best car engine oil?

I need some good engine oil for my BMW whats the best one out there?Whats the best car engine oil?
For standard oil, I recommend Pennzoil. I have had five vehicles go 100,000 miles with no problems and the people who bought them from me drove them for many more years because I would see them from time to time.

If you want a really GREAT oil, I would suggest AMSOIL synthetic. I read some independent labratory tests on that stuff and it was amazingly better at protecting metal parts then all the others. But it is a bit expensive. You CAN run it for more miles than Petroleum oils so it costs about the same in the long run. I switched my Harley to Amsoil and it ran quieter and cooler. That should tell you it is better then the ';dinosaur'; petroleum oils.

The second best synthetic would be Mobil one.

Hope that helps...Whats the best car engine oil?
all the very best cars run on Mobil 1 if you can afford it
MAKE SURE YOU USE THE CORRECT GRADE, MILLIONS ARE SPENT TRYING TO MAKE THE CARS RUN WITHIN GRADE AND MANY PEOPLE FILL THEM WITH CACK AND THE WRONG GRADE OIL, ANY TOP BRANDED SYNTHETIC WITHIN GRADE FOR YOUR CAR.
Use what the handbook says you should use
Castrol GTX Magnatec. Also you can't go wrong with a shot of Slick 50 in there too.

Keeps your engine sounding smooth as silk.
There is a really good site that will tell you all that you need to know...http://www.carbibles.com/engineoil_bible.html

Worth the time to get to know more about this simple to over look but essential part of you pride and joy.

Paul
pennzoil
In this day and age , theres not much to choose between them, if you buy a 20/40.which means it stays good ( or keeps its viscosity) at 20 below c and 40 above, if you buy cheep, change it more often , which wont hurt anyway, for me that GTX is well over rated, on high mileage cars its got to be changed every year
We use Mobil1
what year. newer models recommend 5w40 european full synthetic oil. Pennzoil makes that oil. All depends on what year it is.
Mobil 1
I use CASTROL. Running it in a Dodge motor with over 350,000 miles and still has original crank and connecting rod bearings in it. No Bull. Great Oil!
Castrol is the best engine oil by a country mile
As reccomended by BMW - ask them.
royale purple its alittle pricey and full synthetic but it is the best its what racecars and performance cars use
